Like most Artists I am enthralled with light and shadow and the wonderful textures of our natural world. These paintings feature both; following the light and an emphasis on texture, leading, I hope, to the viewer following along with me. Most are executed on “slippery surfaces”, either the plastic paper, Yupo, or sealed watercolor paper. (I use two coats of gesso on hot press watercolor paper, sanding between coats, in addition to Yupo.) Watercolor stays on the surface allowing me to add and especially subtract paint at any time. I am an admitted control freak and slippery surfaces offer all the control I could want!
